The first, and probably biggest change that I haven’t seen addressed anywhere else yet is the storage solution of the iPhone 6s. Previous writers on the site have often spoken of Apple’s custom NAND controllers for storage in the iPhone, but I didn’t really understand what this really meant. In the case of the iPhone 6s, it seems that this means Apple has effectively taken their Macbook SSD controller and adapted it for use in a smartphone.

The iPhone 6s in turn appears to use NVMe, which rules out both UFS and traditional eMMC. To my knowledge, there’s no publicly available mobile storage solution that uses PCI-E and NVMe, so this controller seems to have more in common with the Macbook SSD controller than anything in the mobile space.

Overall, NAND performance is impressive, especially in sequential cases. Apple has integrated a mobile storage solution that I haven’t seen in any other device yet, and the results suggest that they’re ahead of just about every other OEM in the industry here by a significant amount.

Misunderstood Mobile Benchmarks Are Hurting The Industry and Consumers

The problem with some of these mobile benchmarks and the scores that they generate is that they don’t accurately reflect a user’s experience once they’ve gotten a device and use it. Simply put, the numbers generated do not directly correlate to the user’s experience with the device and device manufacturers, and the press and reviewers using them are unfortunately misleading consumers by using these benchmarks.

Ada banyak orang yang membeli smartphone murni karena:

  1. Kamera yang bagus, kencang, minim lag, cepat dapat update OS, dll
  2. Spesifikasi yang tinggi

Yang 1) biasanya orang awam. Sedangkan orang-orang yang mengakui dirinya “smartphone enthusiasts” biasanya memilih 2) karena merasa mereka merasa tahu “trik” memilih smartphone yang bagus.

When I went hands-on with the Galaxy S4 last month, I noticed that the device felt slower than my iPhone 5, even though benchmarks around the web suggested the opposite. Perhaps this discovery helps explain that. In any case, Samsung needs to learn the same lesson its PC industry counterparts did some years ago: funny business in benchmarks always comes to light sooner or later, and it’s never a good alternative to winning performance contests the right way.

Kata teman-teman, yang harus diperhatikan dari smartphone yang akan Anda beli adalah… hasil benchmarknya harus tinggi. Hasil benchmark yang tinggi menjamin kepuasan katanya.

iPhone 5 yang memiliki prosesor A6 Dual-Core 1.02 GHz ARMv7 serta 1GB RAM diklaim memiliki kemampuan dua kali lebih cepat dibanding pendahulunya, iPhone 4S. Walaupun iPhone 5 baru akan dirilis ke publik pada 21 September nanti, namun hasil benchmarknya sudah bisa dilihat di Geekbench.
